Quick and Creamy Almond Milk

Almond milk is one of the easiest things to make and one of the best things you can do to begin to improve your health and enjoy more fresh living foods in your day to day life.

It’s really easy, super quick and fun too!

Follow the instructions below and always have fresh healthy milk on hand!

  • 1 cup soaked almonds (soaked overnight or for 8 hours)
  • 3 cups filtered water.

Blend the almonds and water for around 30-60 seconds until foamy and smooth. Pour the liquid into a nut milk bag and strain away the nut pulp.  You can keep the pulp or freeze it to add to dessert recipes too.

Keep the milk in a glass jar or bottle in the fridge; it will keep for two or three days.

This is a simple base recipe that is fine for smoothies and anything you are adding other flavor too, but if you are using the milk on its own, try returning the strained milk to the blender with a pinch of salt, a teaspoon of coconut nectar and a teaspoon of coconut oil which will give the milk much more texture, taste and volume!

Almonds can be substituted in this recipe for brazil nuts, macadamia nuts or cashews, however these nuts need little or no soaking time, they can be blended fresh with water and then strained.

To flavor your milk in other ways, try these simple variations-

  •  Add 3-5 large soft dates and half a vanilla pod or a dash of vanilla essence for a sweet creamy vanilla milk.
  •  Add 1-2 tablespoons of raw cacao powder & 2 teaspoons of coconut nectar for chocolate milk.
  •  Add half a vanilla pod, half a teaspoon of cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamom for a chai inspired milk.
  •  A teaspoon of spirulina or green powder will also make a brilliant green milk!
